Wedding Update : The haldi and Wedding !

Hello Girls! I hope every one of you are doing good. I am pretty much busy these days working on a new project. So I am finally here to wrap up the wedding series I am doing on my Bff's wedding which happened last year in the December. You can check the Sangeeth and Mehendi here and here.
I couldn't attend the entire Haldi event because it was kind of early in the morning and I cant attend anything in early mornings. The dress code was basically anything yellow for Haldi and by the time I reached she was wearing a red saree meeting people. I do have some beautiful pictures of her haldi though.

My Opinion : I did not understand the yellow outfit. It looks like a crop top lehenga with a dupatta. The fabric looks like lace, I think, could be braaso too but since I did not have a look at the outfit I just cant tell. I think it went well with the theme. The plastic flower jwellery looked quite different. She looked beautiful and everything is so unique. Coming to the saree it is red and paired with a contrast blue blouse with a simple cut work pattern.

What would I do : I think this would be the only event I wouldn't mind listening to my mum and do whatever she planned. I did not plan anything much on my haldi so it was a fun filled evening with friends and family with cheesy jokes and gossip.

What I wore : I wore a simple yellow lehenga, The same one I wore for my Engagement.

The Wedding

The Bride entered in a paalki and was carried by her mama's to the stage in a lotus shaped butta. She wore three sarees. One is kind off purplish pink and two are white. She looked amazing on the day though I kind of was not happy with the MUA, They were supposed to use all MAC products but I saw them using brands like Sivanna colors and incolor for the bride. I liked her best on this day, she looked flawless, nothing went wrong and everything went as planned. let's see some pictures

My Opinion : I love the Pink saree and the elephant border looks so cute. Everything is so perfect. The jewelry is extravagant and she carried it beautifully. There was that bridal glow and radiant skin. I dont think anything was needed to make it better. It was amazing to see how her family flew to be with her on her big day. I think all the hard work her mum did really paid off. I would kill for a mother like that.

What would I do: I think every one feels the same way when it comes to their wedding. I love how mine went and would prefer nothing else. I would never change sarees on the wedding day since its already very tiring and changing and setting up the jwellery is just too painfull. And also when you wear a contrast blouse the hand work people should make sure they do the work even in the front because ' the not embroidered' portion peeking out isn't very appealing.

What I wore : I swear by uppada sarees for the sister/ BFF of the brides. I wore a blue uppada saree and teamed it with a red raw silk blouse with simple kundan work.

Wedding Update: What we wore at her Mehendi

I am back again to tell you what happened at the BFF's Mehendi. Mehendi is an important event at weddings and we all know the bride is not complete until her hands are colored. It is really hard to find a good mehendi artist and the brides these days want every thing perfect. At my wedding I was pretty sure of what I wanted, I did not want any design and wanted my mehendi to be simple and traditional like old times. Like wise , My friend was also very sure of what she wanted, She wanted that type of artist who did palki, bride and groom sort of design on her hands and she found the right ones and her mehendi looked spectacular.

Again she wore one of her mother's design. The lehenga and blouse was made out of a fabric with heavy machine embroidery. The dupatta was kinda neon green with mirrors on it. The best part in her entire attire was the floral jewelry. We ordered it from Pelli poola jada and its called bahubali style. she looked absolutely pretty in this Lehenga. Coming to her hair, It was done in a messy fish tail braid.

My opinion : Every one has a sense of style and It differs from everyone else's . I absolutely loved her in this lehenga. The neon colors complimented her skin tone well. She took take of little details about how exactly she wanted her mehendi and managed time beautifully.

What would I do : Every time I think of a lavish mehendi all that comes to my mind is an open decor, floral lehenga/ dhoti saree, floral jewelry and sunglasses. If I had a mehendi like that I would go for a lehenga like her's but not the dupatta and blouse. I personally feel there should be a balance in the outfit and a point of focus. I loved the lehenga so I wouldnt change that but I would go for a simple one color blouse and the same color dupatta making the lehenga hero. In that case the floral jewelry would shine and be the focus.

What I wore: I wore a lehenga designed by another friend. My lehenga is basically simple net lehenga with a plain silk border. The dupatta is a cut work brick colored dupatta and the blouse is fushia pink colored zardosi worked blouse. My hair was a disaster on that day, I wanted a lower side bun but the hairdresser was in a hurry and ruined it. *****. Extra brownie points for my boy who looked totally dapper in my ensemble.

Wedding update : What I wore on my BFF's sangeeth

Hello Girls! I was supposed to do this about a month ago but you know how the candid guys these days are, They give you pictures almost after a year of your wedding. Anyways I am here to do my wedding series of my BFF and show you what she and I wore at all the events leading to the big day. Its so hard to find good pictures from a sangeeth album because you dont give a damn about the photographs that one day. You are busy dancing off with your friends you almost forget you are being clicked and most pictures are way too awkward to look at.

The bride wore these two outfits, One being Ink-blue and other gold and red. And I am going to be really honest with you here, I always knew she wouldn't opt for a professional designer because her mom does all her ethnic wear and sometimes her western wear too. If some one else told me that her mother is doing all her wedding outfits I would lol and say 'you are a good joke' but that was not in this case, I saw her mum do amazing work on her clothes since ages.

My opinion : I was totally shocked when she showed me her ink blue lehenga, I was like no she cannot wear that! but I know there was no stopping. The lehenga is basically an anarkali lehenga where the lehenga is made of ink blue chips and the top has net with a beige dupatta to team up with. On that day she looked absolutely beautiful in that lehenga with all the sequence shining under the net and the jhoomar was a cherry on the cake. The second outfit was gold and red which is a perfect combo. I liked the outfit the moment I saw it. This lehenga had chips too and she did not opt for hand work blouses for both the lehengas. I think both the lehengas were perfect for a night event. She was breath takingly beautiful and no one turned their eyes away from the sparkling outfits. She managed to change two outfits and two different hair styles amongst performing almost 5 medleys which is amazing by the way.

What would I do: My sangeeth was basically a youngsters and no one gave a damn about what I was wearing. I was doing a lot of performances and there were cocktails and friends everywhere. But if I were her, I wouldnt dare to go for a ink blue sequence lehenga. I would play safe by choosing a silver sequence and get the bottom of it dyed into a different color for that gradient look and go with gold and beige net for the anarkali with a hand worked yoke. Its not easy to wear bold colours and rock your way like she did. For the second outfit I wouldn't change the lehenga and dupatta but I would definitely go for a hand worked blouse.

What I wore: I did a post on what to wear to your BFF's wedding but I bailed on each one of them. I wanted to wear shararas and dhoti sarees at her wedding but that never happened and the reason is I was busy trying to open up my very own designer store. My another BFF who was supposed to design me another outfit was dead busy so I was left with nothing to wear. But then My SIL/business partner came to the rescue and I wore her lehenga. The lehenga is from Mugdha Art studio. I wore my hair in to a messy bun and wore a cute maang teeka. I ditched the bangles and wore a hand patti. I wore the same payal I wore on my wedding day as a neck piece and chaand balis.

I think I looked best on this day compared to the other events. this day holds a special place in my heart because I always loved to dance but somehow I never shared the stage with my BFF in those four years of college. we performed on stage but never together until this. Same with husband, he was forbidden to come to my sangeeth which he did by the way but we both never had a chance to rehearse and perform together.

Wedding update : Accessories to consider

Hello Ladies ! I already did a post on how to dress up this wedding season and now lets get to accessories. Outfit, hair and makeup will not complete a look unless you put on some accessories so let's check these options

Jhoomars: I think these are ruling the wedding season since the song " Jhoomar bhi mein bhul gayi " hit the dance floors. These are so perfect for Mehendi functions specially if you are the bride. It teams up so well with Anarkalis and Jacket Sarees and they look so pretty. They are available in various sizes with pearls , rubies and what not! Many of us think these look good only on Muslims but in reality we have crossed the barriers of religion with this one.
P.S We had a small Mehendi function at home for my wedding and I wore just a Jhoomar with my simple Anarkali.

Nath: I love the traditional Nath with the chain. My mum wore this on her wedding and I always wanted to wear one on my wedding. Well that did not happen though! I had to wear a nose ring which was gifted by a dearest family friend but Nath's are so cool this season. They look amazing on brides but that doesn't mean you have to be a bride to rock this look, team this up with a Dhoti Saree and tie your hair in a up-do.

Ring-Bracelet: I dunno what do you call these but they are actually a ring which is attached to your bracelet with a chain or something. You can find so many designs in these and they look amazing on their own or with a bunch of bangles. I wore this at my wedding, If you are not the bride you can still wear them and carry perfectly.

Flower jewelry : We all know how popular they are becoming each day. People wear it on Mehendi or Haldi depending on their comfort. I wore it on my Haldi. They are just not something to miss if its your wedding.

Ear cuff : These are so in vogue these days, you can wear them on western wear and on your ethnic wear too. I personally think these look amazing with chiffon Sarees at reception with hair tied up in elegant up-do. Love. Love. Love!

Head bands: These look amazing with gowns. Wear a head band to a cocktail party or youngsters for that boho look. You can also wear a heavy chain as a head band for Haldi or Sangeeth.

Clutches : There are so many of them which look amazing with ethnic wear specially the floral potlis from Anushree Reddy. They are available in different price ranges, A simple gold or silver clutch to rubies clutch and many more. Choose the one which compliments your outfit perfectly.

Play along with accessories because they can take your look to next level. Let me know if you know any other kinds of accessories or jewelry which is popular now.
